ice fishing update

The frigid temperatures froze the deep hole over making it safe to fish. Tom, John, and myself set up and gave it a try. We spent 4 to 5 hours on the ice without a flag or a bump. Unlike the last time the hole was fished back in 1988 by Dave W and myself there was no current on this day.

Tom Sr. stopped to check out our progress and told stories of his mother and father fishing the hole with much better luck than we had.

It looks like our spring time otter is back. Several fish have been caught with cuts on their sides.

Tim pulled this 5 inch calico out of an 18 inch pickerel that Ned caught. It looks like our stocked calico might be turning into feed.

Check out the tail sticking out of this pickerel.

This pickerel had a 7 inch shiner in it and it still hit a large bait.

24 Inch pickerel.

The bass count has increased despite the heavy pickerel bite this year. John is still in the lead with 10 bass to my 7 but its not over to the fat bass sings.
